How to install Ubuntu Linux



Why should Linux Ubuntu? Because Ubuntu is one kind of Linux that is currently widely used. To be able to use it, then it must first be installed.

Steps to install Ubuntu Linux is as follows:

1.  Insert the Ubuntu Linux CD Master.

2.  Once opened, then run the * .iso file from the CD, so it would appear to be confirmation of the language used during the installation process. Select one of the languages available. It looks like the following:

3.  After selecting the language used, it will appear that contains several options. Select Install Ubuntu to start the installation process. But if it wants to improve existing Linux but broken then select rescue a broken system.

4.  After selecting the install Ubuntu, it will display a language selection system to be used in Ubuntu.

5.  Then select the country where we are. Since we were in Indonesia, then select other select Asia, then choose Indonesia. Then press enter.

6.  After that fill local configuration by selecting a continent that will be used to set the time zone.

7.  Next will be displayed command to configure the keyboard. Click Yes to configure the keyboard or no to continue the installation process.

8.  Choose one type of output used in computer keyboards are available depending on the type of computer that is used and press enter.

9.  Then the computer will process option has been selected. After that we will be asked to fill in the address of the server, point to specify the server address of the Linux OS Networks us later. This step may be skipped. Select Continue to continue the process.

10.  Next will appear to fill the hostname is a single name as the identity of the computer when connected to the network. By default it is filled with the name of Ubuntu, but we can change it at will. If you do not want to change, then select Continue to proceed to the next installation phase.

11.  The next step is to choose the area to be used as a benchmark time used. Because we chose Indonesia as the location for us, it would appear some time zones in Indonesia. Choose one, here we choose Jakarta (GMT +7) as the time zone, and then press enter.

12.  Next will display options for the distribution of the hard drive. In order for the partition process according to what we expect, then choose manual partitioning methods.

13.  To begin the process of partition, then select the hard drive, and then press enter.

14.  This will bring up the question to create a new partition or not. Select yes, then it would appear much memory on the hard drive (written free space). Press enter to start the process of partition.

15.  After pressing enter, it will appear that asks about the use of available memory. Select create a new partition in order to determine the amount of directories that will be used. To create a partition automatically select automatically partition the free space and the choice of show cylinder / had / sector information to display information on the hard disk to be partitioned.

16.  Then it would appear that where there we were told to determine the amount of memory that is used, whether all or according to our wishes. Type of which will be used, then select Continue.

17.  The next display will show the type of partitioning options, whether Primary (usually a file system and local file) or Logical (usually to file additional RAM). Select Primary, and will be shown the statement to initiate the process of partition. Select Beginning to use the free space that is beginning or end to end of the free space, so it will appear as follows, and then press enter. Then will come the settings for the partition to be created.

Of detail partition above we can see some of the settings of the partition you just created, that of the use as (hard drive that is used to partition), mount point (the point of partition location can be the hard drive), mount options (setting locations of the partition), label (naming partition), reserved blocks (providing additional capacity taken out of the block), typical usage (type utility partition), bootable flag (the detection of partition when the computer starts booting), copy the data from another partition (copy the settings of an existing partition) delete the partition (removing the partition you just created), done setting up the partition (complete setting up partitions). If all the settings are correct, choose done setting up the partition, and then press enter it will appear as below. The new partition will appear under the name of the hard drive and the empty space that can be made to drive again will appear under the new partition earlier.

18.  There are free memory for the rest of the (listed 30GB) of memory used (shown 27.7 GB) for home as has been done above. Did return to the partition to partition the rest of the memory that is free, but reserving the memory available for the swap. This memory is later used when RAM is full, then this memory will accommodate the rest of the existing processes in RAM (memory will serve as a backup RAM). Give the name of the swap partition by pressing enter on the memory that will be used for swap, it will appear as follows.

19.  Select Enter manually and then fill swap, click continue then the partition name will be changed to swap as seen in the screenshot below. Then select Done setting up the partition.

20.  All the memory on the hard disk has been partitioned, and select Finish partitioning and write the change to disk to complete the distribution of drive (partition) on the hard drive.

21.  The next display will ask us to go back to the partitioning process or not, and displays the results of the hard drive partition. Select No, it will appear as shown below, then click yes, then the computer will perform the installation of the system.

22.  Once the system installation process is complete, then we were told to fill in the full name for the new user. When finished typing the full name then click continue, so the display appears to fill in the account name. Type the account name and then click continue.

23.  Then we were told to fill in the password to get into the OS we will and to input the same password again to ensure the password is entered at will.

24.  Next will come the question whether we will be encrypted home directory or not. Select Yes to secure a directory or no to go to the next setting.

25.  Furthermore, we are told to fill in the proxy, enter a proxy if you are using an HTTP proxy to surf the Internet. Skip this step if we do not want to fill in the proxy by selecting continue.

26.  Then we were told to install GRUB Boot Loader whose function is to anticipate changes from the master boot record when booting the installation fails because the OS than Linux Ubuntu. GRUB boot loader usually arise because we use the single OS Linux Ubuntu. GRUB boot loader can be set manually after installation.

27.  After all settings are done, then the computer will install the default Ubuntu software including the GRUB boot loader. Wait a while until the installation is complete. After the installation is complete, then Ubuntu will boot.

28.  Once the boot process is complete, will appear as shown below. Fill in the password and press enter.
